www.logisforum.com to be managed by Oulu Regional Business Agency

On November 18, 2003 Mr Heikki Aalto, Director of Oulu Regional Business Agency, and Mr Kari Himanen, Director of the Port of Oulu, undersigned an agreement concerning transfer of management of the Logisforum portal. Oulu Regional Business Agency will assume responsibility of the portal as of 1 January 2004. The official web address of the portal will remain unchanged.

There was a wish to ensure continuity of the logistics portal as the Logisforum project funded by the EU comes to an end on 31 December 2003. The project guidance group drew up an intention agreement as early as last summer concerning the future location of the portal. Other alternatives that were put forth were Oulu Chamber of Commerce and the newspaper Kaleva.

- The fact that the management of the portal is transferred to Oulu Regional Business Agency is bound to increase synergy between firms in the field even further. In the future, Oulu Regional Business Agency will be overseeing the updating of news, database and all other contents of the portal, says Mr Aarne Tervo, Economic Development Office, who is in charge of the field of logistics at Oulu Regional Business Agency. He has also worked in the Logisforum guidance group.

- Transportation, logistics and traffic are all part of the operation of Oulu Regional Business Agency. We are working in close cooperation with entrepreneurs in the Oulu area, so the portal fits our profile very well, says Director Heikki Aalto on the decision.

- The decision made increases the degree of organisation within the field in our region. We can now offer e.g. training to logistics entrepreneurs in the Oulu Region more effectively than before, says Heikki Aalto. Port Director Himanen is also very pleased that the portal will continue its operation.
- This way the work that has already been carried out can be made use of in a manner that is as cost-effective and rational as possible.
